Solve quadratic equation with discriminant formula

We have quadratic equation like this: [tex]2x^2-3x-2=0[/tex]. How to solve it with discriminant formula?

$$x_{1,2}=\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}=\frac{3\pm \sqrt{(-3)^2-4\cdot 2 \cdot (-2)}}{2 \cdot 2}$$ $$x_1=2 \ \text{and} \ x_2=-\frac{1}{2}$$
